Baptismal, Christening Crib Medal with Guardian Angels, Handmade
Belief in guardian angels is ancient and is present in the both the Old and New Testaments. In the latter, Jesus states that a guardian angel (or angels) watches over each infant (Matt. 18:10). This medal was handmade by Hank Schlau. It is cast in lead-free pewter. A part of the baptismal blessing (Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti) is etched on the back, where a name can be engraved inside the quatrefoil. The medallion (it comes with blue and pink ribbons) can be hung in the infant’s room. In many areas there is a tradition that as the child grows older, the medal is hung yearly on the family’s Christmas tree, as a memory of the initial joys of the child’s life.
